WeGIA Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in General Configuration Endpoint

Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WeGIA application, specifically within the 'configuracao_geral.php' endpoint. This issue allows attackers to inject malicious scripts through the 'msg_c' parameter. The vulnerability arises from the application's failure to properly validate and sanitize user inputs, enabling the injection of harmful payloads that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user's browser. This could lead to theft of cookies, manipulation of session information, or execution of malicious code on the user's system.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to the 'html/configuracao/configuracao_geral.php' endpoint with a payload injected into the 'msg_c' parameter. The injected script will be reflected in the response and executed in the browser.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to WeGIA version 3.2.8 to address this vulnerability.
