Linux Kernel SCSI qla1280 Debug Level Null Dereference Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SCSI qla1280 driver has been addressed. When the driver is compiled with DEBUG_QLA1280 enabled and the debug level is set above 2, a null pointer dereference occurs, leading to a kernel oops exception. This issue arises from incorrect debug information being printed, specifically the length of the scatter-gather list's next entry instead of the intended length of the entry itself.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability causes a kernel oops, indicating a serious error that can lead to a system crash or instability.
