A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the web-based management interface of Cisco AsyncOS Software for Cisco Secure Email and Web Manager and Secure Email Gateway. This vulnerability allows an authenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the context of the affected interface or access sensitive browser-based information. The issue arises from insufficient validation of user input, enabling attackers to persuade users to click on crafted links. Exploitation requires valid credentials for a user account with at least the Operator role.
Successful exploitation allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user interface.
Cisco has released software updates to address this vulnerability. Instructions for upgrading are available in the Cisco Security Advisory related to this vulnerability. For Cisco Secure Email Cloud users, regular maintenance and upgrade requests can be made through the Cisco TAC.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
