Intel Server Boards D50DNP and M50FCP UEFI SmiVariable Driver Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

A time-of-check time-of-use race condition has been identified in the UEFI firmware SmiVariable driver for Intel Server D50DNP and M50FCP boards. This vulnerability may allow a privileged user to escalate privileges through local access.

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the UEFI firmware for Intel Server Board D50DNP and M50FCP to version R01.02.0003 or later. Firmware update packages are available on the Intel Download Center.
