- <= 5.0.10
A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the RSS Aggregator – RSS Import, News Feeds, Feed to Post, and Autoblogging plugin for WordPress. This issue affects all versions through 5.0.10. The vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes in the 'wp-rss-aggregator' shortcode. As a result, authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected pages.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can use the 'wp-rss-aggregator' shortcode to inject scripts. The lack of proper sanitization and escaping on the shortcode attributes allows the injection of malicious scripts that will be executed when the page is viewed.
Users are advised to update the plugin to version 5.0.11 or a newer patched version.
