QR Code for WooCommerce Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the QR Code for WooCommerce order emails, PDF invoices, packing slips plugin for WordPress. This issue affects all versions through 1.9.42. The vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes in the plugin's shortcode. As a result, authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which will be executed when a user accesses the affected page.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed when the affected page is viewed.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can use the plugin's shortcode to inject malicious scripts. The lack of proper sanitization and escaping on the shortcode attributes allows these scripts to be executed when the page is accessed.

Remediation

No known patch is available. It is recommended to uninstall the affected plugin and find a replacement.
