Advanced iFrame WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Advanced iFrame plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 2024.5. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied 'src' attributes in the 'advanced_iframe' shortcode. When the 'src' returns a header with an injected value, it allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts execute when a user accesses the injected page.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Advanced iFrame plugin to version 2025.0 or a newer patched version.
