HT Slider for Elementor Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the HT Slider for Elementor plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.7.4. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in JavaScript, allowing authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages. These scripts are executed when a user accesses the affected page.

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Contributor-level access or higher can inject scripts via the 'slide_title' parameter. This can be done by creating or editing a slide in the HT Slider for Elementor plugin and entering a script into the title field. Once the slide is saved, the injected script will execute when the slide is viewed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the HT Slider for Elementor plugin to version 1.7.5 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
