Better Messages WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Better Messages – Live Chat for WordPress, BuddyPress, PeepSo, Ultimate Member, and BuddyBoss plugin. This vulnerability exists in all versions up to and including 2.10.2. It arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These injected scripts are executed when a user accesses the compromised page.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Better Messages plugin to version 2.10.3 or a newer patched version.
