URL Image Importer WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability via SVG Uploads

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the URL Image Importer plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.0.7. The issue arises from inadequate sanitization of SVG files, allowing authenticated attackers with Author-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts. These scripts are executed when a user accesses the SVG file.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the SVG file.

Remediation

Users can update to version 1.0.8 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
