A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Multi-column Tag Map plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions up to and including 17.0.39. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts are executed when a user accesses the compromised page. This vulnerability is specific to multi-site installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with administrator-level permissions can inject scripts via the 'mctm_css_conditional' parameter in the plugin's admin settings. The injected scripts will be executed when the corresponding page is accessed.
No known patch is available. It is recommended to uninstall the affected plugin and find a replacement.
