itsourcecode Web-Based Internet Laboratory Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the 'Web-Based Internet Laboratory Management System' version 1.0. The issue resides in the '/subject/controller.php' file, where insufficient input validation allows attackers to inject malicious SQL queries through the 'action=delete&id=1' parameter. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and potential leakage of sensitive information.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to interfere with the application's database queries. This could result in unauthorized data access, data modification or deletion, and in some cases, executing administrative operations on the database.
Reproduction
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a GET request to 'subject/controller.php' with the 'action' parameter set to 'delete' and the 'id' parameter set to a value of '1'. The injection can be performed by appending a time-based blind SQL injection payload to the 'id' parameter, such as '1 AND (SELECT SLEEP(5))', which exploits the vulnerability by causing a delay in the response, indicating successful injection.
Remediation
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure user input conforms to expected formats. Minimizing database user permissions and conducting regular security audits can also help mitigate such vulnerabilities.
