Advanced Ads WordPress Plugin SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the Advanced Ads – Ad Manager & AdSense plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 2.0.15. The vulnerability arises from inadequate escaping of user-supplied data in the 'order' parameter, allowing authenticated attackers with Administrator-level access to inject additional SQL queries. This exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information in the database.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, where an attacker can manipulate database queries to extract sensitive information from the database.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Administrator privileges can send a request to the WordPress site with the 'order' parameter. The lack of proper input sanitization allows for the injection of malicious SQL code, which could be executed by the database.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Advanced Ads – Ad Manager & AdSense plugin to version 2.0.16 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
