Groundhogg WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Groundhogg plugin for WordPress, affecting versions through 3.7.4.1. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with Administrator-level access to inject arbitrary scripts into pages. These scripts are executed when users access the compromised pages. This vulnerability is specific to multi-site installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Administrator privileges can inject scripts through the 'label' parameter in the form builder of the Groundhogg plugin. The injected scripts will be executed when the page is accessed by a user.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Groundhogg plugin to version 4.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
