RTMKit WordPress Plugin Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the RTMKit WordPress plugin, affecting all versions through 1.6.8. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts could be executed if a site administrator is tricked into clicking a link.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to a page that includes the 'themebuilder' parameter with the injected script. The lack of proper sanitization will allow the script to be executed when the page is loaded by an administrator.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the RTMKit WordPress plugin to version 2.0.0 or later.
