Code-Projects Online Event Judging System SQL Injection Vulnerability in edit_judge.php

Vulnerability

A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in version 1.0 of the Code-Projects Online Event Judging System. The issue arises in the edit_judge.php file, where the judge_id parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, and a public exploit is available.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for unauthorized database access, manipulation of data, and potential disruption of services.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to the edit_judge.php file with a crafted judge_id parameter. The injected SQL payload can be designed to exploit time-based blind SQL injection techniques, such as using the SQL SLEEP function to create a delay as a proof of concept.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
