Image Optimizer by wps.sk WordPress Plugin Cross-Site Request Forgery Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability has been identified in the Image Optimizer by wps.sk plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.2.0. The vulnerability arises from inadequate nonce validation in the imagopby_ajax_optimize_gallery() function, allowing unauthenticated attackers to initiate bulk image optimization by tricking a site administrator into clicking a link.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized bulk image optimization actions being performed on behalf of a site administrator.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an attacker must craft a request that exploits the missing nonce validation in the imagopby_ajax_optimize_gallery() function. This can be done by tricking a site administrator into clicking a link that contains the forged request, which can be achieved through social engineering tactics.
