Display Pages Shortcode WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Display Pages Shortcode plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.1. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages. These scripts are executed when a user accesses the compromised page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can use the [display-pages] shortcode and include a script in the 'column_count' parameter. Once the page is saved, the injected script will execute when the page is viewed.

Remediation

No known patch is available. It is recommended to uninstall the affected plugin and find a replacement.
