Campcodes Online Learning Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability in Calendar of Events Admin File

Vulnerability

A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in Campcodes Online Learning Management System version 1.0. The issue resides in the admin calendar_of_events.php file, where the date_start parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and access to sensitive information.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to the /admin/calendar_of_events.php file with a crafted date_start parameter that includes malicious SQL payloads. This injection takes advantage of time-based blind SQL injection techniques, such as using the SQL SLEEP function to create a delay as a proof of concept.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
