JhumanJ OpnForm Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Submissions Feature

Vulnerability

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in JhumanJ OpnForm versions through 1.9.3. The issue resides in the '/show/submissions' file, where user input is not properly sanitized before being displayed, allowing for the injection of malicious scripts. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, and requires user interaction to trigger the malicious script.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an unauthenticated user can submit a form containing JavaScript payloads through a rich text field. Once submitted, an authenticated user must view the submission on the '/show/submissions' endpoint, which will execute the injected script. This vulnerability can also be reproduced by uploading a file with a malicious payload, such as a .png or .pdf file, which could be accessed through a signed URL.

Remediation

Users are advised to update to JhumanJ OpnForm version 1.9.4 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
