Gutenberg Essential Blocks Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Gutenberg Essential Blocks – Page Builder for Gutenberg Blocks & Patterns plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 5.7.1. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages. These scripts would execute when a user views the affected page.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Gutenberg Essential Blocks – Page Builder for Gutenberg Blocks & Patterns plugin to version 5.7.2 or a newer patched version.
