A command injection vulnerability has been identified in the D-Link DIR-823X router, specifically in the 250416 firmware version. The issue arises in the 'uci_set' function within the '/goform/set_wifi_blacklists' handler, where the 'macList' parameter is not properly validated. This lack of validation allows attackers to inject malicious strings, potentially leading to arbitrary command execution on the device. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely, and a public exploit is available.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for arbitrary command execution on the affected device.
To reproduce this vulnerability, log into the router's web interface and navigate to the 'set_wifi_blacklists' function. The 'macList' parameter can be manipulated by injecting malicious strings that exploit the lack of input validation. Once the injection is successful, the injected commands will be executed on the router's operating system.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
