SourceCodester Pet Grooming Management Software SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in SourceCodester Pet Grooming Management Software version 1.0. The issue resides in the file '/admin/operation/paid.php', where the 'insta_amt' parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation or deletion, and exposure of sensitive information.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to '/admin/operation/paid.php' with the 'insta_amt' parameter. The injected SQL payload can be crafted to exploit the application's SQL query handling, taking advantage of the lack of input validation.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure user input conforms to expected formats. Minimizing database user permissions and conducting regular security audits can also help mitigate such vulnerabilities.
