WP Dashboard Chat SQL Injection Vulnerability in WordPress Plugin

Vulnerability

A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the WP Dashboard Chat plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.0.3. The issue arises from inadequate escaping of user-supplied data in the 'id' parameter, allowing authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject additional SQL queries. This exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information in the database.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, where an attacker can manipulate SQL queries to extract sensitive data from the database.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Contributor-level access or higher can send a request to the WordPress site with the 'id' parameter. The lack of proper input sanitization allows the injection of malicious SQL code, which can be executed by the database. This can be done through the WordPress admin dashboard, where the WP Dashboard Chat plugin is active.

Remediation

No known patch is available for this vulnerability. Users are advised to uninstall the affected plugin and consider a replacement.
