Zephyr Project Manager Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Zephyr Project Manager plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 3.3.202. This vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts. The injected scripts execute when users access the compromised pages. This issue is present in multi-site installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with administrator-level permissions can inject scripts into the admin settings of the Zephyr Project Manager plugin. The lack of proper input sanitization and output escaping allows these scripts to be executed when users access the affected pages.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Zephyr Project Manager plugin to version 3.3.203 or later.
