A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in SourceCodester Online Student File Management System version 1.0. The issue arises in the file /admin/save_user.php, where the 'firstname' parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, potentially affecting other parameters as well.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands, leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and in some cases, executing commands on the server.
The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to /admin/save_user.php with a crafted 'firstname' parameter that includes malicious SQL code. This can be done using tools like sqlmap, which automates the process of finding and exploiting SQL injection vulnerabilities.
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
