A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Simple SEO WordPress plugin, affecting versions prior to 2.0.32. The issue arises because the plugin fails to properly sanitize and escape certain parameters before outputting them on the page. This flaw enables users with a minimum role of contributor to execute cross-site scripting attacks.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the content.
To reproduce this vulnerability, create a new post and navigate to the Simple SEO tab. Insert an XSS payload, such as a script tag (HTML-encoded) including an image tag with an 'onerror' event, into the SEO Title field and save the post.
Users are advised to update the Simple SEO WordPress plugin to version 2.0.32 or later.
