Semantic MediaWiki Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in Semantic MediaWiki versions prior to 5.0.2. This vulnerability allows attackers to execute JavaScript in the context of the victim's browser by sending a malicious URL that includes the '/index.php/Speciaal:GefacetteerdZoeken' endpoint parameter. Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to the theft of sensitive user information, such as session cookies, or allow attackers to perform actions on behalf of the user.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected Cross-Site Scripting, where an attacker can execute scripts in the context of the user's session.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to Semantic MediaWiki version 5.0.2 or later to address this vulnerability.
