ELEX WooCommerce Google Shopping SQL Injection Vulnerability in Versions Through 1.4.3
Vulnerability
A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the ELEX WooCommerce Google Shopping (Google Product Feed) plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.4.3. The vulnerability arises from inadequate escaping of user-supplied data in the 'file_to_delete' parameter, coupled with a lack of proper preparation in the SQL query. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with Administrator-level access to inject additional SQL commands into existing queries, potentially leading to the extraction of sensitive information from the database.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, where an attacker can manipulate SQL queries to access or modify database information. In this case, it could be used to extract sensitive data from the database.
Reproduction
To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Administrator-level access can send a request to the 'elex_gpf_manage_feed_remove_file' AJAX action. The request must include the 'file_to_delete' parameter, which is not properly sanitized before being used in an SQL query. This allows the injection of malicious SQL code that could be executed by the database, potentially leading to unauthorized data access or manipulation.
Remediation
Users are advised to update the ELEX WooCommerce Google Shopping (Google Product Feed) plugin to version 1.4.4 or a newer patched version.
