ClickWhale WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the ClickWhale WordPress plugin, specifically in the Link Manager, Link Shortener, and Click Tracker for Affiliate Links & Link Pages components. This vulnerability affects all versions of the plugin up to and including 2.4.1. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into link titles. These injected scripts are executed when a user accesses the affected page.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
Remediation
Users can update to version 2.4.2 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
