Joomla! CMS Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Menu List ID Attribute

Vulnerability

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in Joomla! CMS. This issue arises from a lack of proper output escaping in the id attribute of menu lists. The vulnerability is present in Joomla! CMS versions 3.0.0 through 3.10.19-elts, 4.0.0 through 4.4.9, and 5.0.0 through 5.2.2.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Remediation

Users are advised to upgrade to Joomla! CMS versions 3.10.20-elts, 4.4.10, or 5.2.3.
