Intel Ethernet Port Configuration Tool Privilege Escalation Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A vulnerability exists in some versions of the Intel Ethernet Port Configuration Tool (EPCT) software prior to 1.42.8.0. This vulnerability allows an authenticated user to potentially escalate privileges through local access, due to an uncontrolled search path issue.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation.
Remediation
Users are advised to update the EPCT software to version 1.42.8.0 or later. The latest version can be downloaded from the Intel Download Center.
