Multilevel Referral Affiliate Plugin for WooCommerce SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the Multilevel Referral Affiliate Plugin for WooCommerce, affecting all WordPress versions through 2.27. The issue arises from inadequate escaping of user-supplied data in the 'orderby' parameter, allowing authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access or higher to inject additional SQL queries. This exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive database information.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, where an attacker can manipulate SQL queries to extract sensitive information from the database.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Subscriber-level access or higher can send a request to a vulnerable WordPress site with the 'orderby' parameter. The lack of proper input sanitization will allow the injection of malicious SQL code, which could be used to access or manipulate database information.

Remediation

No known patch is available. It is recommended to uninstall the affected plugin and find a replacement.
