Web Stories Enhancer Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Web Stories Enhancer – Level Up Your Web Stories plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.3. The vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the 'web_stories_enhancer' shortcode. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the compromised page.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Remediation

Users can update to version 1.4, the first patched version, to address this vulnerability.
