A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the Small Package Quotes – USPS Edition plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.3.5. The vulnerability arises from inadequate escaping of user-supplied data in the 'edit_id' parameter, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject additional SQL queries. This exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information within the database.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, where an attacker can manipulate SQL queries to extract sensitive data from the database.
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to the 'shipping-rules-save.php' file within the 'admin/tab/shipping-rules' directory of the plugin. Include the 'edit_id' parameter with a value that can be manipulated to inject SQL code. The lack of proper data sanitization and SQL query preparation will allow the injected SQL to be executed, potentially leading to data extraction from the database.
Users are advised to update the Small Package Quotes – USPS Edition plugin to version 1.3.6 or later.
