Shared Files WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Shared Files – Frontend File Upload Form & Secure File Sharing plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.7.42. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These scripts execute when a user accesses the uploaded dfxp file. This vulnerability is present only in Apache-based environments, where dfxp files are processed by default.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user accessing the affected page.
Remediation
Users are advised to update the Shared Files WordPress plugin to version 1.7.43 or later.
