A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the aBlocks WordPress Gutenberg Blocks plugin, affecting all versions through 1.6.1. The issue arises in the 'Table Of Content' block, specifically within the 'markerView' attribute, due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected page.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Contributor-level access or higher can add a 'Table Of Content' block to a post or page. By injecting a script into the 'markerView' attribute and saving the changes, the script will execute when the page is viewed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the aBlocks WordPress Gutenberg Blocks plugin to version 1.6.2 or later.
