Stockdio Historical Chart WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Stockdio Historical Chart plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 2.8.18. The vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, particularly within the 'stockdio-historical-chart' shortcode. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected pages.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can use the 'stockdio-historical-chart' shortcode. By injecting unsanitized script elements into the shortcode's attributes, the scripts will be executed when the page is viewed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Stockdio Historical Chart plugin to version 2.8.19 or later.
