MP3 Audio Player by Sonaar WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the MP3 Audio Player – Music Player, Podcast Player & Radio by Sonaar plugin for WordPress. This vulnerability exists in all versions prior to and including 5.9.3. It arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes, particularly through the Podcast RSS feed. As a result, authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected pages.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with contributor-level access or higher can inject scripts via the Podcast RSS feed. The injected scripts will be executed when the injected page is accessed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the MP3 Audio Player – Music Player, Podcast Player & Radio by Sonaar plugin to version 5.9.4 or later.
