DWT Directory and Listing WordPress Theme Privilege Escalation Vulnerability via Unauthenticated Password Reset

Vulnerability

A vulnerability allowing unauthenticated password resets has been identified in the DWT - Directory & Listing WordPress Theme, affecting all versions through 3.3.6. The issue arises because the theme's password reset function, dwt_listing_reset_password(), does not properly validate token values. This flaw enables attackers to reset passwords for any user, including administrators, potentially leading to unauthorized account access.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for unauthorized password changes, enabling attackers to gain access to user accounts, including those of administrators.

Remediation

Users are advised to update to version 3.3.7 or a newer patched version.
