A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Broadcast Live Video WordPress plugin, specifically in the Live Streaming: HTML5, WebRTC, HLS, RTSP, RTMP version 6.1.9 and prior. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes in the 'videowhisper_hls' shortcode. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which are executed when a user accesses the affected page.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
Users can update to version 6.1.10 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
