WordPress Push Notification for Post and BuddyPress Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WordPress Push Notification for Post and BuddyPress plugin, affecting all versions through 2.06. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts could be executed if a user is tricked into clicking a link that contains the malicious payload.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.
Reproduction
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to the WordPress site with the 'pushnotificationid' parameter. The injected script will be executed if the user clicks on the link containing the malicious payload.
Remediation
Users are advised to update the WordPress Push Notification for Post and BuddyPress plugin to version 2.08 or later.
