A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the The Events Calendar WordPress plugin, affecting all versions through 6.9.0. The issue arises in the Event Calendar Link Widget, specifically through the html_tag attribute, due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected pages.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
Users can update to version 6.9.1 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
