Borderless WordPress Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability via SVG Upload

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Borderless – Widgets, Elements, Templates and Toolkit for Elementor & Gutenberg plugin for WordPress. This issue affects all versions through 1.6.2 and arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with Author-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These scripts execute when a user accesses the SVG file.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the SVG file.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Borderless WordPress plugin to version 1.6.3 or a newer patched version.
