Linux Kernel PN533 NFC Driver Null Pointer Dereference Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A null pointer dereference vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's PN533 NFC driver. The issue arises because the 'phy' field of the 'pn533_out_arg' structure, which is used as a temporary context for output USB requests, is not properly initialized. This uninitialized field can be accessed in error scenarios within the 'pn533_out_complete()' callback, leading to a general protection fault. The fault is likely related to a non-canonical address, causing a null pointer dereference error.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability leads to a null pointer dereference, causing a general protection fault and a crash of the kernel.
