A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's DRM/I915 component involves improper handling of barrier deletions, particularly with non-idle barriers. This mismanagement can cause list corruptions, especially when the I915 performance feature is used alongside multiple graphics applications. The issue arises from a race condition where performance requests interfere with barrier processing, leading to potential corruption of internal lists that track barrier tasks.
Exploitation of this vulnerability can cause list corruptions within the kernel, disrupting the proper management of graphics performance requests and potentially leading to further instability or errors in graphics processing.
The vulnerability can be reproduced by using I915 performance features while running several graphics applications concurrently. This combination triggers the race condition in barrier processing, allowing the list corruption to occur.
The vulnerability has been addressed in the official Linux kernel repository. Users should upgrade to the latest version where this issue has been fixed.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
