A memory leak vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's mt76 driver, specifically within the mt76x02u component. The issue arises in the __mt76x02u_mcu_send_msg function, where the driver fails to properly free a socket buffer (skb) if the mt76u_bulk_msg function encounters an error. This oversight can lead to unnecessary memory consumption.
Exploitation of this vulnerability can cause a memory leak, where memory that is no longer needed is not released back to the system. Over time, this can lead to increased memory usage and potentially cause performance degradation or exhaustion of available memory resources.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
