Linux Kernel Generic Netlink Policy Dump Memory Leak Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A memory leak vulnerability has been addressed in the Linux kernel's generic netlink policy dumping process. The issue arose when the array of policies failed to record non-first policies, leading to a memory leak. The netlink_policy_dump_add_policy() function also required modification, as it currently fails to log the allocated pointer in the pstate pointer upon encountering an error.

Impact

The vulnerability could lead to a memory leak, causing increased memory usage and potentially allowing for memory exhaustion over time.
