Linux Kernel NFSv4.2 Inode Reference Leak Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NFSv4.2 implementation has been addressed. The issue involved the destination server improperly accepting a filehandle during a COPY operation if it was not a regular filehandle. Additionally, if the function alloc_file_pseudo() failed, it was necessary to decrement the reference on the newly created inode to prevent a memory leak.

Impact

The vulnerability could lead to a memory leak by failing to properly manage inode references, potentially causing resource exhaustion.
