Linux Kernel Memory Leak Vulnerability in AT91 ADC IIO Driver

Vulnerability

A memory leak vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's IIO ADC AT91 driver. The issue arises in the 'at91_adc_allocate_trigger()' function, where the 'iio_trigger_register()' call can fail. In such cases, the function does not release the allocated trigger, leading to a memory leak. The 'iio_trigger_free()' function should be called to free the memory once the reference count drops to zero.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to a memory leak, causing increased memory usage and potential degradation of system performance over time.
